Nick Oberg Awarded the Roger Booher Young Professional Award

Eastside Utility is proud to recognize the exceptional achievements of Nick Oberg, our Plant Manager, whose contributions have significantly enhanced our operations and community impact.

Nick began his career with Eastside Utility in 2019 as a Staff Engineer, where he focused on improving operational efficiency through the development and promotion of GIS and web maps. This work laid a solid foundation for enhancing our operations and streamlining maintenance processes.

Under Nick’s leadership, he has successfully completed four major capital improvement projects at the Eastside Utility’s Water Treatment Plant:

1. Transitioned from chlorine gas to sodium hypochlorite (bleach) as the primary disinfectant.
2. Renovated the Water Treatment Plant's filter system including all controls, instrumentation, valves, and valve actuators.
3. Upgraded the Water Treatment Plant SCADA system.
4. Automation of the treatment plan’s backup power system.

Nick has also overseen the preliminary design of the New Clearwell and Finished Water Pump Station, a project currently in its early design phase.

Nick’s exceptional leadership also extends beyond project management. He hosts students to learn more about water treatment and the water utility field. Nick’s efforts within the community make the water utility accessible for tomorrow’s leaders.As a young father raising a family of his own, Nick provides above and beyond leadership by making water treatment, engineering, and the water utility industry accessible to the next generation, which is commendable and worthy of recognition.
