Young Professional Award
Eastside Utility District is proud to recognize Staff Engineer Kaleb Thompson as the recipient of the Roger Booher Young Professional Award from the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD). This is the second consecutive year an Eastside Utility employee has earned this honor, which is presented to young professionals under the age of 35 who have demonstrated leadership, dedication, and excellence within their utility.
Kaleb earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2016 and has been with Eastside Utility for eight years. Kaleb manages a variety of initiatives at Eastside, including GIS mapping systems, the developer plan submittal review process, and providing essential support between the engineering department and our distribution system field crews.
He also oversees the District’s Lead & Copper Rule compliance program, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and customers understand how to locate and identify their water service line material as part of protecting water quality. As part of these efforts, Kaleb appeared in an instructional video designed to help customers locate and identify their water service line material.
He has played a central role in several major capital improvement projects, including a 24” water transmission main re-location and the implementation of a system-wide AMI replacement program. His ability to bridge technical expertise with practical field operations has established him as an up-and-coming leader among his colleagues.
The Roger Booher Young Professional Award honors Kaleb’s contributions to Eastside Utility and his promising future as a leader in the water sector.
